The latest from UCM exhibitor: Star Media acquired three new TV formats

Last week Russian-Ukrainian production and distribution group Star Media has joined the list of Ukrainian Content Market (UCM) exhibitors. The company has booked suite #317 on the Market floor in Radisson Blu Hotel, which already hosts 27 major prodcos and distributors from Russia, Ukraine and other countries.

The list of companies, which are going to participate in Ukrainian Content Market 2012 (UMC) with their own exhibition suites has expanded thanks to the new names. In particular AMEDIA (Russia), Art Pictures Media (Russia), Gala Media and Film International (Russia) и Carmen Film (Russia) will join the UCM old-timers, and in spite of more than six months that are left to the event, they already know where and under which number they will meet the fall.

For the majority of TV, movie, production, distribution and other media business representatives the last week has passed, beyond a shadow of doubt, under the sign of KYIV MEDIA WEEK (KMW). Organized by Media Resources Management company, this unique media industry project, one and the only of a kind in the CIS and Central and Eastern Europe was held in Kyiv on September 13-16, 2011. The event gathered more than 800 participants from the CIS region, Eastern and Central Europe, Northern America and Asia. It was a distinctive range of events for top players of TV, movie, new media and other media businesses that gave opportunity to meet colleagues and network in formal and informal atmosphere (a number of special entertaining events were held), to tie up beneficial contracts and to learn about current trends of the international media business.

Television in Ukraine is a business for philanthropists

Ukrainian television business is developing in a highly competitive environment. According to Olexandr Bohutskyy, Head of StarLightMedia Group (ICTV, STB, New Channel, M1, M2, QTV) to do television as a business in Ukraine it is something similar to philanthropy. And this is why: in Ukraine there are twice more nationwide TV-channels than in Russia, but at the same time volume of our advertisement market is ten times smaller than that of Russia.

Ukrainian TV-advertising – rapid growth of a miniature market

By the volume of TV-advertisement market Ukraine ranks 16 among 33 European countries. In figures it comes to around 500 million per year or 1.26 % from the total volume of the European TV-advertising market. Such data was quoted in the report delivered by the Director of the consulting company Media Resources Management Victoria Yarmoshchuk at the Television as Business conference that was held on September 15 in course of KYIV MEDIA WEEK.
