International mediaforum KYIV MEDIA WEEK is gaining momentum. Last week two big events have been added to the forum’s agenda – Robert McKee’s Story seminar in Ukraine and International Emmy Award 2012 Judging Semi-Final. International conference and TV format screening Format Show will be held on September 11 in Radisson Blu (SAS) hotel. Among the conference speakers are leading experts in the sphere of TV formats from Russia, Europe, USA and Asia. Major format producers and distributors will present to the CIS audience in Kyiv their new products in advance of the international industry events of the autumn. Format screening audience will be introduced to the new formats from the world’s leading format producers: Endemol, Televisa, BBC Worldwide, Fremantle Media, Eyeworks, Cineflix, Zodiak Rights, etc. For the first time in Ukraine we organize a unique project of 1+1 Group –Ideas Pitching and its final round will be held on September 11 during the Format Show conference. Ideas Pitching gives independent authors a chance to present their new and unique concepts of TV shows. Main prize – one of the top Ukrainian TV channels 1+1 TV channel will produce a pilot episode based on the TV show concept of the winner. Audiovisual content market Ukrainian Content Market 2012 will be held on September 12-14, 2012 in Radisson Blu (SAS) hotel. The fifth conference Film Business will be held on September 12 in Radisson Blu (SAS) hotel.
This year the format of the conference is changing – we are moving from discussion of film industry problems and prospects to practice – a certain media expert, based on his experience, will share his ways of attracting investments, getting government support for film production, and participating in co-production. The conference speakers will include a number of outstanding world film industry professionals. One of them is Rick McCallum – producer of the famous Star Wars saga.
Television as Business conference will be held on September 13 in Radisson Blu (SAS) hotel.
Top TV brands, leading media experts and prominent media investors will discuss up-to-date content, finance and management questions, newest media technologies. Principal Expert of EU Commission Christian Hocepied will attend this year’s conference. The conference topics include: TV industry regulation, competitive model of digital TV in Europe, TV channels branding and advertisement, etc.
International forum Digital Broadcasting in Ukraine will be held on September 14 in Radisson Blu (SAS) hotel. This forum is organized by the Independent Association of TV Broadcasters. Panel discussion will concentrate on such topics as the results of DTT implementation in Ukraine in 2012 (quality, audience, coverage) and the prospects of its further implementation in 2013.

For the first time in Ukraine Robert McKee will give his Story Seminar. It will take place on September 6-9, 2012 in Kyiv Academic Theatre of Operetta (Kyiv, 53/3 Velyka Vasylkivska / Chervonoarmiyska str.) Robert McKee is a leading consultant to major film and television production companies, including Miramax, Paramount and Pixar. Among his former students are 36 Academy Award winners, 165 Emmy Award winners, 29 WGA Award winners and 26 DGA Award winners.
International Emmy Award 2012 Judging Semi-Final will be held in Kyiv on September 14, 2012 in Pravda movie-theatre located at FILM.UA studio. International Emmy Awards - is the most prestigious award in TV industry, which is annually presented to the best industry professionals and products from all over the world. It is awarded by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. In Kyiv an international jury will select the semi-final works in the ‘TV movie/mini-series' category. Movies/series selected in Kyiv will take part in the Final round. The winners will be announced at the International Emmy Awards 2012 gala in New-York.
