Call for entries for the non-scripted entertainment formats competition SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS 2019 continues until August 16.
To compete or not – that is the question both the beginners and experienced players of TV and formats business ask before they decide to join the competition. Does it give a real chance for a format to become a hit and travel worldwide?
We all know that ideas rule the world and in case the idea is bright and original it has all chances to draw attention of the international jury and go global with the help of SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS contest. Actions speak louder than words: the winners of the previous competitions, three from Ukraine and one from Israel, step by step move towards the recognition among world’s TV industry players thanks to Small World IFT.
Namely, the SW.BI winner of 2016, the reality show Come to Bed created by Lital Shemesh (Israel), has been commissioned by Jeffrey Katzenberg’s new digital platform Quibi for development in partnership with one of the top non-scripted production companies in the world, Mission Control Media, known for its signature project Hollywood Game Night, multiple Emmy and WGA awards winner.
Also, good news came for the last year’s winner Switch-a-roo – entertainment show about the twins by Victor Bulyga (Ukraine) – the title got an offer from Swedish prodco (name of the company – TBA soon). The original format of the show has been further developed by Small World IFT experts, got the new title, presentation deck and a new sizzle.
“I couldn’t believe it was me, who won the competition – said Switch-a-roo creator Victor Bulyga. – I consider all the finalists’ projects were strong and pitched on the high level. As to the authors – their professional background and experience are quite impressive.”
As a winner of SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS2018, Victor has visited Cannes and MIP market for the first time last April. “Cannes is like a fairytale! Hard not to fall in love with this city – I started missing it once I left it. MIPTV market impressed me with its mind-blowing energy and scale. There were a lot of people, offering or searching for new sensational formats. It is also a great place for meeting people and establishing the new contacts with the prospects for future collaboration.” – he said.
Tim Crescenti – President of Small World IFT (USA) – the international distributor, who has 30 years of experience in media business and 160 TV projects implemented in 63 countries – always has an eye for the unique ideas: “Don’t be afraid to be weird – this is what gave Japan, Korea and Israel the leading role in the world content development” – he says.

Every year SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS international contest is in search for new original non-scripted entertainment formats (game, quiz, dating, travel, survival, reality show, etc.). Since 2015, the contest is organized by Media Resources Management (Ukraine) in partnership with the international distributor Small World IFT (USA) and the year's most anticipated global market for entertainment content across all platforms – MIPCOM (France).
The five finalists will be announced on August 27, 2019 on KYIV MEDIA WEEK website. The final round and the selection of the SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS winner will take place on September 17 at KMW 2019.
