On September 12, 2012 for the fifth consecutive year film industry professionals will gather in Kyiv at the international B2B conference Film Business.
This year the organizers of the conference, Media Resources Management company, change the format of the forum and switch focus from discussion of film production burning issues to more practical matters. Particularly, all the main sources of films funding will be discussed, such as government funding, involvement of different investment funds, and coproduction.
First section of the conference called «Co-production as a profitable venture - reality or fiction? » will be dedicated to all the aspects of modern-day coproduction. London, UK; Dr Martin Smith, Special Adviser, Ingenious Media,UK; Rick McCallum, Film producer, USA; Gabor Zandler, Line Manager - Sport, Recreation, Entertainment Business Line - Aon Risk Solutions, Hungary; Alexey Vladimirskiy, Sport, Recreation and Entertainment Practice Leader, Aon Rus – Insurance brokers, LLC, Russia; Olga Zakondyrina, MGAP Attorneys at Law, Russia; Syuzanna Mauzen, Executive producer, Russia; and others.
“The choice of topic for the round table is dictated by the two major trends of contemporary film business - globalization of the film industry as a whole and continuing growth of Eastern European film markets. Mutual integration of the national film industry systems of different countries is very well manifested in the implementation of co-production projects. International co-production is becoming one of the most attractive film production management systems, as it doesn’t just provide additional sources of funding for film production, but also allows an active exchange of experience in production between filmmakers of different countries, and most importantly - expands the boundaries of national cinema, making it accessible not only for its local audiences, but also for the audience of the partner countries", - comments Sergey Grachev, managing partner of law firm MGAP, Russia, the moderator of the panel discussion, "Co-production as a profitable venture: reality or fiction?"
Two other conference sections will be devoted to questions of government support of film production, and to discussing the ways to maximize the profit from film distribution.
