On September 19, with the support of the US Embassy in Moldova, KYIV MEDIA WEEK will host a panel discussion ‘Moldova and Ukraine: new horizons of cooperation’, dedicated to the great opportunities and broad perspectives that are opening today for the two countries in the field of film and television production.
In the course of the panel moderated by the executive director of Ukrainian Motion Picture Association Victoria Yarmoshchuk, the most burning issues affecting the strategic mutually beneficial partnership in the context of content production of the two neighbouring countries will be raised. The discussion will feature the industry experts of Moldova and Ukraine.
The key topic of the event will be co-production as an opportunity for a mutually beneficial combination of creative and financial resources of the two states with the goal of producing content intended for demonstration on domestic markets and for export to other countries.
The panelists will examine in detail the creative and technical capabilities that each country possesses: for example, the existing studios, TV channels, etc. The experts will discuss the prospects that co-production opens, thematically supported by the closeness of mentality, the common past and lookalike present situation in Ukraine and Moldova. And also – the difficulties of implementing such projects related to language, legal regulation, etc.
Special attention will be paid to content production for the international market. Representatives of Ukraine will talk about the experience that the country has already earned in this area and how Moldova can join this process. And the representatives of Moldova, in turn, will inform how their state is preparing for the introduction of a cash rebate system, which will be officially launched on October 1, 2018.
