Winner of KIEV CoProduction Meetings 2016 Pitching Announced

On September 20, the 6th international media forum KYIV MEDIA WEEK, which started in the Ukrainian capital on Monday, held a unique event on co-production – KIEV CoProduction Meetings, dedicated to the theory and practice of co-production of content for television and online distribution.

Today, of all the projects submitted to KIEV CoProduction Meetings, the experts selected 10 finalists. All participants had the opportunity to present their creations to the jury and to potential partners during pitching. The producers of the selected projects were given 15 minutes to present their creations.

This year, the jury highlighted such projects as Mirrored Mountains, Voroshilovrgrad and Amondo Wedding Tour. However, the winner of KIEV CoProduction Meetings 2016 Pitching is the project of an 8-episode historical detective story with mystical elements Lemberg, which was presented by Olesia Lukianenko and Elena Malkova from FILM.UA Group.

The series takes place in 1914, when the world is on the edge of World War I. There is tension in the air; a premonition that something terrible is about to happen. In the city of Lemberg (now Lviv), on the very outskirts of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, this feeling of restlessness manifests itself in extremely strange ways: all supernatural forces start revealing themselves. The heavy burden of battling Evil is put on the shoulders of two ordinary officers of the Lemberg police: commissioner Adam Vistovich, a seasoned detective of Ukrainian descent, and Andrzej Samkowski, a young and ambitious Polish gendarme. These two don’t like each other much, but they’ll do whatever it takes to save mankind, while the Titanic of Old Europe is swiftly going down.

The script for the project is being written by Polish screenwriters. It is assumed that the show itself will be mostly in Polish. Filming should start in autumn of next year – not only in Lviv, which in pre-World War I Austro-Hungarian Empire was called Lemberg, but also in various European cities. The estimated budget for the production of the series is $300-500 thousand per one episode.

As a prize, the partner of the event TV channel "Ukraine" will provide media support for the winner, as well as a ticket to Paris with accommodation to participate in the International Festival Series Mania, which will be held in April 2017. In addition, the TV channel "Ukraine" will air news stories about the winner and their trip to Series Mania.
