Considering the friendly relations between the Republic of Korea and Ukraine, this year the media forum KYIV MEDIA WEEK embellished its usual line-up of conferences with special events dedicated to Korea. The Republic of Korea demonstrates dynamic growth in all areas of the media, and the purpose of the program is international exchange of best practices, as well as signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the representatives of the telecom industry from Ukraine and Korea.
The partner of the program on the cooperation between Ukraine and South Korea is Samsung.
On September 20, 10:00-12:00 the Hyatt Regency Kyiv (Paris Hall) will host the main event of the program – the round table "Ukraine and Korea: cooperation opportunities in media sphere" with the participation of the Ambassador of Korea. One of the initiators of the round table is the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting. Thus, the head of the National Council Yuriy Artemenko will open the round table with a welcoming speech, together with a special guest of the event – the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine Lee Yang-goo.

The experts will discuss the possible ways of cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of production and distribution of content, and share their experience in regulating the media industry. The round table will discuss such issues as creating content banks, educational programs and exchange of experience, technical innovation, the opportunities for co-production of content and its international distribution, government support for co-production, features of content adaptation, trends in audience preferences.
On September 20 at 16:30 at Hyatt Regency Kyiv (Library Hall), the parties will sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the representatives of the telecom industry of Ukraine and Korea. The memorandum will have a trilateral format, its participants – the Telecommunications Chamber of Ukraine and their counterparts from the Republic of Korea: “Korea Cable Television & Telecommunication Association” (KCTA) and “Korea Radio Promotion Association” (RAPA).
The main objective of the Memorandum is to make the first step towards further mutually beneficial cooperation of content providers and cable operators from Ukraine and Korea. The signing of the Memorandum will present the evidence of friendly relations not only between the two countries, but also its businesses.
In addition, the program of special events dedicated to the cooperation between Ukraine and Korea includes:
September 19 - screening and presentation of Korean formats by the Korean association KOCCA at FORMAT SHOW;
September 20-21 - the presence of the joint stand of Korean companies at UKRAINIAN CONTENT MARKET, sponsored by The Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA). The stand will feature such companies as KBS World, 3D eye pictures Co. Ltd., PlayOnCast Corp., Grafizix Co. Ltd., DESIGNSEOL, ANIMATION STUDIO VANDAL Co., Ltd., KOCCA;
September 20 – case study of international co-production between South Korea (Mountain TV) and Spain (Zanskar Producciones) of a reality show “Strangers in the wild” in the framework of the conference KIEV CoProduction Meetings.
