Annually in September Media Resources Management gathers media professionals from around the world in Kyiv to define the development vector of CIS & CEE media industry as well as to discuss global trends in TV and film business. Traditionally, all the events of the international media forum KYIV MEDIA WEEK are united under a cover theme, usually it’s the burning issue that affects all spheres of media (TV, film, new media, etc.) in Ukraine and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
And it’s not just a matter of tradition – KMW constantly monitors market needs and reacts promptly to them: last year all the events of the media forum tried to answer the question of how to live under the new economic and political conditions. This year, an ambitious objective is to be achieved by the media forum – to deploy national media business in 360°.
KYIV MEDIA WEEK: Media Business 360°
"KMW 2016 cover theme is obvious: everyone is building cooperation with related industries in 360°, but unfortunately this principle doesn’t work here, in Ukraine. And we’ll discuss why. Also we will raise the question of the newest technologies, that have been implemented here slower than anywhere else. We’ll talk about the importance of Ukraine integration into the global context, especially in terms of legislation: in order to work successfully with different countries and to become more competitive we have to offer at least the same conditions. It should be understood at all levels: we know how to build a business, but what's the point if, let’s say, Europeans cannot cooperate with us because of our legislation gaps and our non-membership in certain global institutions? To understand what Ukraine falls short of, KMW will focus on the reforming of national legislation to finally make Ukraine attractive for international co-production and foreign investments”, – comments Victoria Yarmoshchuk, CEO of Media Resources Management, KMW organizer.
Special emphasis during this year's KMW events will be put on cross-platform aspects and convergence of different media. After all, the traditional segmentation of media market is becoming less relevant in the evolving digital environment. For example, online platforms are becoming more influential players not only on gaming and digital markets, but in audiovisual content production sphere as well. Mobile and cloud technologies, social media boom cause the paradigm shift in content consumption – users want to have access to the desired information and content anytime, anywhere and on any device. It is obvious that the success of the media business in the nearest future will depend on how well, fast and most importantly – convenient to the user – will the players of the media market combine their traditional tools with fresh opportunities, which are possible because of new-age technologies. And in order to understand how the media will live tomorrow, one has to look not only forward and believe in the "bright future", but to go for the complete 360-degree visual field.
The new concept of KYIV MEDIA WEEK 2016 – Media Business 360° – will be reflected both in the traditional KMW line-up (the program can be found here), as well as in new special events: round tables, dedicated screening sessions, exclusive presentations, keynote speeches by world-class media experts.
