New TV Channels Launched in Ukraine

Despite the economic and political crisis in the country, Ukrainian media market is actively developing. For the last 2 months several TV channels of different types and genres have been launched. It is worth noting that all founders of the new channels are regular guests of KYIV MEDIA WEEK.

MEGOGO launched a new channel. Online movie theatre MEGOGO launched an interactive channel [M] CHILDREN HD for the youngest viewers. Kids can watch different animated series and educational programs with a simple story. MEGOGO library has collected a lot of kids content, enabling it to devide into groups and open several niche channels for children of all ages. 

VOLIA launched HD channel for children as well. VOLIA CINE + KIDS is the first Ukrainian TV channel in high definition for children. The channel appeared exclusively in packages of one of Ukraine’s leading cable operators – Volia, on February 1st. VOLIA CINE + KIDS offers its viewers the content from the world's leading film studios – Disney, NBC Universal, Touchstone, Marvel, StudioCanal, as well as the content from domestic producers like Ukranimafilm and others.

Satellite movie channel STAR Cinema will soon broadcast in Ukraine. On January 28 National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council issued a license for satellite broadcasting company Star Media TV. It will offer movies and TV series produced by Ukrainian-Russian prodco Star Media, who’s library exceeds 4.500 hours of premium quality content. The channel will broadcast 24/7 with BISS encryption in Ukraine and other countries where the signal from ASTRA 4A (4.8° East) satellite is available.

It stands to mention that earlier in October 2015 FILMUADrama channel was launched. FILMUADrama programming contains exclusive series produced by FILM.UA (Vanga, The Hellene, House With the Lilies, The Late Regret, Dr. Baby Dust and many others), and themed videoblogs - Teleset (reviews of the latest movies and series) and MediaCHTIVO (vlog about fiction and professional books).
