At the beginning of December 2015 Studio Kvartal 95, one of the biggest Ukrainian prodcos and participant of the annual forum KYIV MEDIA WEEK, sold format rights to its entertainment talent show ‘Hochu k Meladze’ (I Want to Meladze) to China. This sealed the talks, which began in Cannes at MIPCOM this October. The format was created and produced by Alan Badoev’s Gaudi Studio together with Studio Kvartal 95.
The project I Want to Meladze was aired in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Vladimir Zelensky, creative producer and co-founder of Studio Kvartal 95 comments: "The sale of our joint format with Gaudi Studio to China is great news and further step of our company to the international market! It's a good deal, especially considering that this market is quite closed to foreign TV shows and formats".
Alan Badoev, one of the creators of I Want to Meladze says: "The peculiarity of our format is that we reveal the real show business, not just creating a music band within the TV project, but we become a platform from which new singers start their careers. China is a huge market where the music industry is developing very rapidly, so this project has great potential to gain a leading position".
I Want to Meladze is the second project of studio Kvartal 95, which raised interest of Chinese TV industry. In 2014 comedy show Rozsmishi Komika (Crack Them Up) was successfully adapted by Shixi Media for Chinese TV channel Jiangxi.
