This was said by Vlad Ryashin, the founder and general producer of Star Media, during Television as Business conference held in the course of the V international media forum KYIV MEDIA WEEK. Considering that Ukrainian media groups can not spend more than $20.000 for 1 hour of original product, it is almost impossible to make TV series of a high quality.
You do really can produce one title with $20.000 for an episode. But only one. And just in case of a concatenation of circumstances. Lots of them. Otherwise, you will get a television soap opera, said Vlad Ryashin.
Our viewer is spoiled with very good content: produced by the FILM.UA group The Sniffer had a budget of $200.000 for an episode, and Mata Hari by Star Media needs much more – about $1 mln. The tax rebate initiative could be the way out.
