Scripted Reality – Secrets and Distinguishing Features of the Genre in Special Focus at FORMAT SHOW 2015

Just in a week, on September 7, FORMAT SHOW starts. It is a conference and screening of new TV formats in the course of international media forum KYIV MEDIA WEEK 2015. Panel discussion Scripted Reality: Hybrid that Challenges Documentary and Drama in it’s Entertainment Factor. Creator’s, Distributor’s and Broadcaster’s View will be held during FORMAT SHOW. Such a topic has not been chosen by chance, scripted reality is a real lifesaver when you need to produce a long-term product for a wide audience. The unique and universal nature of this genre has long ago been recognized over the world, and its best practices have been boiled down to certain formats.  

The participants of this panel discussion are experts with huge work experience in scripted reality: Felix Wesseler, Director Business Development & Communications at Filmpool (Germany); Sabrina Duguet, SVP International Format Sales at all3media International (UK); Olga Zemkova, Editor-in-Chief at FILM.UA Group (Ukraine); and Ekaterina Andrienko, Head of Production at TV-3 channel (Russia).  

In the course of discussion, Felix Wesseler and Sabrina Duguet will tell the audience about the cooperation between Filmpool production company and all3media International distributor. The result of this cooperation was the creation and global success of such scripted reality formats as Lawyers & Detectives, Berlin Models and Niedrig & Kuhnt: Detectives Investigate.

Felix Wesseler will share his extensive experience in producing content of Scripted Reality genre, which is a hybrid of documentary, drama and entertainment. In her turn, Sabrina Duguet will tell the FORMAT SHOW participants about the opportunities for adapting this genre in different countries of the world and about the international distribution of formats.  

Ekaterina Andrienko will be the one to speak about the features of Scripted Reality production and programming from the TV channel’s point of view. To illustrate her presentation, TV 3 Channel Head of Production will use such successful projects of the channel as The Fortuneteller (Rus. Gadalka), The Blind Sorceress (Rus. Slepaya), and Ghostbusters (Rus. Ohotniki za privideniyami). 

Olga Zemkova from the biggest Ukrainian production company FILM.UA GROUP will also share her experience in producing Scripted Reality formats. For many years, Olga has worked on creating and adapting scripted reality both in Ukraine and abroad.
