Crowdfinding gaining popularity in Ukraine. Irina Solovey, co-founder of social innovation platform Big Idea, tried to develop the topic at the International Conference Film Business: Challenges, Features, Opportunities. She noted that in 2014 just in three months platform Big Idea managed to collect 1.2 million Hryvnas for the project Hromadske TV. The platform was also intended to help in raising funds for a full-length feature film "Toloka" by Michael Ilienko.
"The main thing for directors and producers to realize that crowdfunding is a supplementary mean the traditional sources of funding and can’t be its substitute" said Irina Solovey. Another thing to remember is that users should be involved deeply. For e.g if we talk about the film, the producers may provide keys for free download it via the Internet, bonuses for different applications, discounts and promotions. The complicity in production is extremely important for the users.
At the same time the owners of crowdfunding platform should take into account the costs of the organization itself and the campaign in terms of the cost of salaries of employees, SMM-managers, etc. It is also very important to minimize the number of clicks and conversions from other sites on the page of the project.
