KIEV CoProduction Meetings will open new prospects for new TV products to emerge. This year a criminal drama Hinterland/ Y Gwyll will be showcased by a well-known British producer Gwawr Martha Lloyd. The project is an outstanding result of co-production of five companies: Fiction Factory, S4C, Tinopolis, BBC Cymru Wales and ALL3MEDIA International Ltd.
Hinterland/Y Gwyll was originally aired on S4C (a Welsh public TV channel) in October 2013. However, DR - a Danish channel had acquired the rights to broadcast the detective before filming had even commenced. As of today it is sold to at least 12 countries with Netflix is acquiring the rights for the USA and Canada.
TV drama was originally shot in two languages (English and Welsh). The series was awarded with The Best Drama Series (Celtic Media Festival St. Ives -2014, Great Britain) and was honored to have Special Mention at the 2014 CINE Golden Eagle Award Ceremony (Bethesda, MD, USA).
Martha Lloyd will speak about the series production history and co-production specificity at KIEV CoProduction Meetings. It’s worth saying that she is in charge of custom made original dramas on the Welsh public channel S4C. Gwawr Martha Lloyd is being deeply involved in making decisions on further prospects for dramas and feature projects considered on the channel. She is known for her contribution to a few BBC series popular in England and Wales (e.g. People of the Valley, Mistresses).
Gwawr Martha Lloyd will share bilingual production experience with KMW’14 participants. She will also provide some details on decision making process in terms of multilateral co-production and dwell upon search of funding sources.
KIEV CoProduction Meetings 2014 will take place in the Radisson Blu Hotel Conference Hall (22, Yaroslavov Val St, Kyiv, Ukraine), from 10 AM to 3 PM on September 16.
