Ukrainian TV channel 1+1 has acquired the Armoza Formats’ psychological crime-thriller Hostages (Bnei Aruba). The series was originally created by Omri Givon and Rotem Shamir and produced by Chaim Sharir. Hostages was premiered in Israel in October, 2013. In Ukraine the show will run this fall.
Hostages is distributed by Armoza Formats with headquarters in Tel Aviv. It’s worth mentioning that Avi Armoza, founder and head of Armoza Formats, annually takes part in KYIV MEDIA WEEK and new projects of Israeli distributor are traditionally presented in the course of the conference and screening Format Show.
The first season of the thriller aired in Israel on Channel 10, as well as on BBC4 in the UK and Canal+ in France. An American remake of the series with the same name aired for a single season on broadcast network CBS.
The Israeli version has also been picked up by Australian pubcaster SBS for its digital channel Studio, which specializes in international drama and arts programming.
A political drama Hostages centers on a female surgeon who is chosen to operate on the Prime minister of Israel. She becomes part of a larger conspiracy when her family is taken hostage, and she is ordered to assassinate the Prime minister in order to save them.
