A unique and unprecedented Ukrainian project entitled UA Formats will be presented to the international format community at the conference and screening event Format Show (in the course of KYIV MEDIA WEEK 2014). UA Formats is basically a complete catalogue of almost all Ukrainian formats ever made on local TV with a one common feature – a great success story of broadcast: either in terms of ratings, number of seasons on air or number of local adaptations in CIS countries or all of those factors combined. So, now international buyers will be able to have access to a vast variety of new premier formats from Ukraine (that have never been launched on the international market before) from a one single resource – UA Formats (which will also handle international distribution of the titles).
UA Formats project, the launch of which was initiated by Iryna Kostyuk (Co-Founder of Media Resources Management), has put together the most ever successful original Ukrainian TV formats, developed and produced by Ukrainian prodcos and TV channels. To name just a few, UA Formats catalogue includes such Ukrainian TV long-livers as Karaoke on Maidan (Ukr. Karaoke na Maidani) – street singing contest that became the most long-running show on Ukrainian TV of more than 900 episodes, sensational political talk-show Freedom of Speech (Ukr. Svoboda slova), the first Ukrainian talent-show Chance (Ukr. Shans), created and aired well before the legendary Got Talent and X Factor, Crossing Europe (Ukr. Galopom po Evropah) - most beloved travel-show of Ukrainians in the beginning of the century, and many others headliners of various broacasters. Besides local “classics”, the catalogue also includes a range of current top-ranked rating-boosting titles such as Auditor (Ukr. Revisor) - social reality show that unveils the truth about Ukrainian hotels and restaurants and which has already been adapted in Russia with great success. Each of UA Format titles is an exceptional idea that has maintained its top positions on Ukrainian TV throughout many years. These shows have proved their undoubtable success by getting high ratings and Ukrainian viewers’ love. Moreover, some programmes have already been aired and produced in other CIS countries.
A number of formats from the catalogue, despite their idea’s potential and success on Ukrainian TV, have never been presented by their rightholders on the international markets. Therefore the main incentive of UA Formats project is to introduce remarkable Ukrainian ideas and developments on international level and show the genuine potential of Ukrainian creativity to foreign buyers according to the international format business standards.
UA Formats is also a quite unprecedented project due to the fact that it is very rarely that a single project can unite and pool together the efforts of almost all Ukrainian TV format business players (as formats rightholders), including independent prodcos and major TV groups.
UA Formats is meant to be a start-off basis for Ukrainian format business, as its catalogue will be compiled and managed in accordance with all international format industry standard practices and further presented and introduced at leading content markets across the globe.
The project will be premiered on September 15 at the conference and screening event Format Show in the course of KYIV MEDIA WEEK 2014.
Traditionally Format Show participants will have an opportunity to get acquainted with new TV formats by major international distributors from all around the world, as well as to listen to speeches of the leading experts in the sphere of TV format industry from Europe, USA, Russia and other countries.
