Ukrainian production company FILM.UA has agreed an international distribution partnership with Belgian distributor Crazy Cow.
The agreement sees Crazy Cow distribute TV rights for docu-drama Mystical Tales (115×45′) and factual entertainment series History of Criminalistics (6×44′) across Scandinavia as well as in Benelux, Netherlands, Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland.
Crazy Cow, which is headed by MD Michael Daemen, will also manage sales of FILM.UA produced shows in all French-speaking territories around the world.
The distributor is based in Brussels and was founded by Daemen in 2007. It works with major international broadcasters including M6 in France, Mediaset in Italy and UK pubcaster the BBC, and specializes in drama and comedy as well as fact entertainment and lifestyle formats.
Kateryna Vyshnevska, FILM.UA’s head of development and coproductions, said the agreement would enable group’s programming to receive “maximum exposure and pitches. Crazy Cow has experience selling Russian-language content to Scandinavia, so it seemed like a natural fit”.
The deal is part of FILM.UA’s attempts to diversify its operations, with the company also seeking new coproduction partners for drama projects in Western, Central and Eastern Europe.
The prodco, which also distributes its own programming, is currently collaborating on a remake of Spanish coming-of-age format The Red Band Society with Russia’s AVK Productions.
