FremantleMedia and All3Media in talks of merger?

London based international content producer and distributor FremantleMedia is reported to be in talks of acquiring rival media group All3Media headquartered in London and Los Angeles. Neither of the parties comments on the merger.

If the deal is finished its price is estimated to exceed £500 million. Moreover, it will result in creating an indie giant operating on both local market and pan-European one with a combined UK turnover of £425 million - more than double its nearest direct rival, Endemol UK. Total global turnover would reach £1,8 billion.

During 2013 both FremantleMedia and All3Media expended their presence on the global market by taking over smaller companies and launching new subsidiaries. This fact means they won’t stop on what was achieved. At the same time none of the groups ever signed a large scale deal the potential merger would be. All3Media’s major shareholder Permira bought the company for £320 million in 2006 and then tried to sell it in 2011 for £750 million.

A part of RTL Group, FremantleMedia comprises production subsidiaries operating in 22 countries. The company more distributes more than 20 thousand hours of TV content to more than 150 global territories. Its catalog also includes some of the world’s most adapted TV formats such as Got Talent, The X Factor and Farmer Wants A Wife.

All3Media, meanwhile, has 18 production and distribution companies. Its TV dramas and crime series including The White Queen, Midsomer Murders, Hollyoaks and The Only Way is Essex as well as game show The Cube are known all over the world.
