Istanbul based international content distributor Global Agency licensed cooking reality format Rivals-in-Law to the broadcasters in the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe.
Global Agency signed deals with Channel Seven (Kazakhstan), Nova (Serbia) and Alfa TV Dooel (Macedonia). Options are also out in Russia and Latin America.
Rivals-in-Law is a mix of cooking show and reality in which the wife and the mother must cook a meal of their husband’s/son’s choice under celebrity chef’s supervision. The women have a short amount of time to buy the ingredients and prepare the dish. After the meals is prepared, chef comments on each dish and then presents both plates to the man. He must taste each dish and then make the ultimate choice of which is the best. The winning woman will get a sponsored prize, as well as bragging rights as the better chef.
Launched at MIPFormats in April 2013 formal was sold 1+1 in Ukraine. In the MENA, prodco iMagic has produced a series for Abu Dhabi TV, which premiered in December.
WeiT Media acquired Israeli-Chinese TV format
Israeli distributor Armoza Formats licensed adaptation rights on entertainment format I Can Do That! to Belgium, Turkey, Peru and Russia.
Deals were signed with Belgian broadcaster VMM and Turkish channel Star TV. At the same time Peruvian network Frequencia Latina acquired rights on production two seasons of show’s local version. WeiT Media picked up Russian adaptation rights. Since the format had launched at MIPCOM last fall it was sold to France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Portugal, Australia, Sweden and Norway.
I Can Do That! co-developed by Armoza Formats and Chinese broadcaster Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation (JSBC) is the result of original formats development and distribution agreement signed by the companies. This entertainment talent show challenges eight celebrities to choose an act performed by a professional and do it the same way. Contestants have one week to master the act they chose and the original performers become the celebs’ trainers and prepare them in one week for the next show. Only the viewers choose who has given the best performance.
