Ukrainian’s leading commercial channel 1+1 secures local production rights to The Taste. In the brand new cooking competition show four top chefs rely only on their taste buds to find the next superstar chef. The Taste was created by Kinetic Content, Red Arrow's US production company led by Chris Coelen. The Taste was premiered on Format Show conference in course of KYIV MEDIA WEEK that took place on September 11, 2012 in Kyiv.

Culinary superstars are going back to basics: The Taste! Both home cooks and restaurateurs are given the opportunity of a lifetime, as they sharpen their skills and train with the best culinary experts in the business. The superstar mentors will each coach a team of cooks, who they hand pick based on their dishes alone. In each episode there are two challenges; a team challenge and an individual challenge. At the end of each show the mentors must decide together whom to eliminate. A Ukrainian broadcaster has become the latest channel to try a local version of cookery competition format The Taste, following deals in France, India and Australia.

David Brook, Marketing and Development Director of 1+1 media, Ukraine:

“Ukraine is one of the fastest growing TV markets with strong appetite for original formats. Since its foundation until today 1+1 has been a channel innovator that constantly introduces the most winning international formats. After the successful adaptation of Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, 1+1 channel decided to develop this sector further. I have no doubt that The Taste will be a sensation in Ukraine.”

Shakira Hoffmann, Regional Sales Manager Ukraine of Red Arrow International:

“The Taste is one of the hottest shows at the moment. Focusing on the taste of food only as a key element in a competition intrigues buyers around the globe. I am thrilled to partner with 1+1 to bring the show to Ukraine”

In the U.S., ABC has ordered eight episodes of The Taste in which famed foodies Nigella Lawson and Anthony Bourdain head a distinguished panel of four judges to pit America’s most skilled cooks against one another. Additionally, Nine Network Australia and M6 in France secured local production rights.
